Angela and I are excited to raise money and awareness for a cause that has become personal for us. Most all of you have heard our story. Our son, Blaze, has hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). God placed Blaze on this earth on May 30th of 2017. He spent the first seven months of his life at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois never feeling the warmth of the sun, never feeling the chill of a cool breeze, and never experiencing the many wonders that all other healthy new born children feel. Stuck in a hospital bed, nurses, medicines, tests were the norm for him everyday. HLHS warriors require special care for the rest of their lives, and eventually face the probability of a heart transplant. The only chance of survival is staged palliation surgeries or a transplant. This has been a life changing experience for us and brought out a passion to help other cardiac children. We are making it our mission to raise awareness and money for children living their lives with congenital heart defects. That’s why we are asking our friends to open their hearts and consider pledging and/or participating in the Cardiac Heart Disease (CHD) Walk, on May 31st 2020 at Kellar Station. Please join Team Blaze. I know many of you to be very generous, so we are asking for a donation so that kiddos like Blaze have a better chance of survival and make the rest of the story a brighter future. God Bless.
