Witt was born with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) in  October 2017. He spent the first 6 months of his life at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, underwent 4 open heart surgeries and multiple other procedures. Witt received the best and most loving care while he battled through some very stormy days. Witt is now 3 1/2 years old  and continues to receive unmatched care at the OSF Congenital Heart Center.  He is a sweet, humorous little fella that loves firetrucks, ambulances, garbage trucks and all construction equipment.   Witt has two older brothers and two older sisters.

On this journey, our family has met some of the bravest and and most beautiful souls. We walk in memory of the warriors that by our understanding were taken too soon.  We walk for the family that will learn their child has a congenital heart disease this year.  We walk for the family that is visiting their precious child in the hospital.  We walk for the family that fears the future.  We walk for the family trying to navigate the medical bills and insurance nightmares.   We walk for the family wondering what the next ECHO will show. We walk for the family in therapy. We walk for the thriving children.  We walk in support of our hospital, physicians, nurses, office assistants, phlebotomists, sonographers, pharmacists, and therapists.  We walk because we care.  We walk to raise awareness.  Our lives have been touch in the difficult, transforming and yet mysteriously beautiful way God uses these children.
